Time out

Been taking a bit of time out recently to play with my own car.
Thought I’d maybe post up a bit of a progress photo taken today to show how far it’s come since day one.
It started its life in my possession as a worn out 235,000km old Eunos Roadster.
Looked a bit like this:
and it starts
It has since had some Cusco adjustable suspension installed. some Racetech seats. its been through a few different sets of wheels, and it’s come down to this:

It’s sitting on some Tri-spoke Advan SA3R’s that my good friend Dan hooked me up with. They seem a nice period correct 90’s wheel, and will be the road wheels for the car.
Now i’m just waiting to get a rollbar/cage welded in and we’ll be able to get it on the track finally.
If you are experienced in building roll bars/half cages in MX5’s/Roadsters then gimme a bell, i’m interested in discussing options.
CHURP!

A Very Tough AE86

This car made me a little bit moist when it came out of the pits on Saturday at Manfeild.

So much want all in one spot.

Drivers PB of 1:17.9 round Manfeild means it’s pretty damn quick!

Uncles Club Track Day

number1.jpgresized
Uncles Club, almost sounds like a poorly thought out name for a pedophile ring but in fact it ‘s a fast growing entry level motorsport event worth a look at for those in the Auckland region.
Put on by the good folk at GVI ( http://www.genuinevehicleimports.co.nz/ ) It kind of started out from what I can make of it an “old boys club” if you like….Hence the uncles ref.
A bunch of middle aged (or older) guys that wanted to have a thrash round a track in their vehicles without having to commit too much time or expense…Oh and of course the fact that GVI’s Peter Johnston is a motorsport nut !!
I have been to a couple of these now and the great thing is the variance in cars, from classic to modern….mild to wild, and now it seems the following is starting to grow from normally running two groups of cars per evening to now running three groups.
Of course it is growing, $65 from 4.30pm until 7pm at New Zealand’s most modern motorsport track, its a no brainer and a great way to test your car or even just your interest in the circuit racing scene.
The rest of the pics are on the flicker (link at bottom of page)
but here is a taste of what you may encounter if you can make it along to an Uncles club track session.
Peace

Pink Race Car… oh and CHICKEN

Holla.

Bit of a late-ish night blog update, but I’ve just got back from a secret squirrel meet up with Kerri, who has shown me the fresh sticker job done on her sparkly pink FC RX7 Racecar.

She also was so kind and bought me back a stack of chicken from Wongs Kitchen in Hamilton for me and the flatmates to try (and she’s a vegetarian!!)

Now – check out the vinyl job done by Mad Mike at CRE8GRAFX.

Notice any familiar stickers on there?
