So at a party I was at a while ago, this car rolls up. I’ve never laid eyes on one before. It’s an Audi RS2 Avant.
Based on the Audi 80 Avant
it was Audi’s first ‘RS’ badged monster. Full of obviously branded Porsche parts including intake manifolds and of course the brakes, pictured below. With a 5 cylinder 2.2litre turbocharged donk under the hood it makes for 315hp from factory…. not bad for a mid 90’s family wagon! It’d certainly be enough power for passengers to shit themselves when the driver is chopping through all 6 gears and using that Quattro 4wd system to the max….
Anyways – the owner – Nik was a real GC and could talk all day about his blue beauty. The story of how it came to be in his posession is actually quite cool. He had seen it around before and it was previously owned by a company. He saw the company went into liquidation, so rang the liquidators and hounded them about the car, they didn’t give much detail. Then from what i remember of our conversation (it was crate day and I was a few bottles down so this recollection could be rather hazy) a mate of his called him from a local mechanic. His mate had spotted this car there, so he went and had a look at it while the Mechanic had it, then found it was going up for auction, so went and bought it. After wanting one of these for most of his life, he definitely bought a good one. And he was lucky to get one at all considering there is only about 10 or so in the country……..
Here’s the drunkenly taken pics – YAY CRATE DAY.
The owner of this car, Nik, also tells me he is an admin on the VASK.org.nz
forum for Audi’s and VW’s.
A whole lot more information about these rare cars is also available HERE
if you are keen for some further reading.
Eyes will be peeled and the camera will be out over the Xmas/New Year period, hunting for all things that go Bwarp.
A couple of weeks back I spotted this tidy E30 BMW parked up outside my work. I snapped a couple of pics on my phone to post up.
Couple of burnout pics from Port Road Drags a few weeks back.
Notice that the whole cabin/interior is full of smoke. LOL
Anyway, until next time,
What an eventful evening!!
Great turn out, intense food, sweet yarns, decent weather, and a nice short drive along the coast line.
Oh – and some Paraparaumu loony who went apeshit cos there was too many cars in the carpark, and it meant she had to go through drive through. good times.
Anyway – enough of the bullshit….! more photos!
and some hits from the carpark:
had to LOL at the ‘artwork’ on the side of this Celica!
Sorry if we missed any cars – there was so many cameras out tonight, so keep checking the FB page for our mates to chuck their personal pics up – and if you got any pics, make sure you upload them. YEEE
|j-Drizzle – up and coming Bwarp photographer
So last week the Port Road Drags were on and Barry at Burgerfuel Johnsonville spotted me a couple of free tickets to get in there for the day. While I was busy getting brutally sunburnt, I handed the camera over to resident shit talker – JD. Here’s what he saw through the lens.
This is a very very original V8 Nissan President. Never seen one in the flesh. A mighty rare car.
This is why you own a 4×4, to park it anywhere you bloody well want to.
This Mini stuck out like dogs balls, despite its size…. probably that brilliant orange paint.
This Ute looks like it was built by a mad scientist. Despite it’s rough edges, it certainly had some charm.
For some people these cars are more than just a hobbie, for some they become a way of life. Certainly is some strong culture around. Tattoos of your favourite engine manufacturer shows this strong culture. This guy was obviously a Mopar fan.
Another Bwarp contributor, Sean, sticking his finger up someones pipe.
Special thanks to JD, for his excellent photographic works.
